Brainlike, Inc. is a technology company that delivers smart sensing solutions. The company focuses on improving decisions and saving money by reducing real-time sensor data to valuable information. Brainlike sensing solutions reduce clutter by continuously and automatically adapting to changing conditions. Brainlike products and services include analysis tools and real-time monitoring products, analysis support, and real-time product integration. Since beginning research and development work for the United States Navy in 2005, the company has expanded its monitoring products and services for general purpose use.

Robert J. (Bob) Jannarone,
Ph.D.

Chief Executive Officer

Bob Jannarone is the Chief Executive Officer of Brainlike, Inc., a technology company that delivers smart sensing solutions for real-time monitoring applications. Bob serves on the San Diego Chapters of the National Defense Industrial Association (Legislative Committee) and the Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association. Bob has also advised San Diego university professors through the Center for Commercialization of Advanced technology, funded by the U.S. Navy. Before Brainlike, Bob founded, capitalized, and ran Netuitive, Inc., a company that delivers computer server monitoring products. Before that he was a tenured (engineering, statistics, and psychology) professor and an active (ONR- and DOE- funded) researcher. Bob also served in the U.S. Navy as a submarine nuclear engineer. He has authored many patents, articles, chapters, and a book. Bob has degrees in computer science, statistics, and psychometrics, including a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley.

 

Bob's book, Concurrent Learning and Information Processing, presents the world's first real-time computing system designed exclusively for continuously adaptive monitoring, forecasting, and control. Since the book's publication in 1997, the research code described in Chapter 3 has been superceded by commercial products. However, the basic rationale, statistical foundations, examples, features, and benefits that are described in the rest of the book remain valid to this day.

George F. A. Wagner

Rear Admiral (retired)

Admiral George F.A. Wagner was a Surface Warfare Officer, and served in a number of ships in the Pacific and Atlantic Fleets. Following his command tour, he served as Program Manager for the Tomahawk cruise missile system. As a Flag Officer, he first served as the Warfare System Engineer in the Navy's Warfare Systems Architecture and Engineering Directorate. He was next assigned as the Program Executive Officer for all Navy cruise missile programs and all of the Defense Department's unmanned aerial vehicle programs. His final assignment was as Commander of the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, where he was responsible for the development, acquisition, and life cycle management of command, control, communication, computers and intelligence and surveillance systems for the Navy. After retiring from the Navy, he worked for Northrop Grumman as Vice President until 2007. Admiral Wagner holds a B.S. degree from the U.S. Naval Academy, along with an M.S. degree and a Naval Engineer Degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1998, the George F. Wagner Chair in Public Management was established in his honor, at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School.

John Major has been serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Broadcom, Inc. since May 2008. He also serves on the board of three other publically traded companies: Lennox International, Littelfuse, and ORBCOMM. In January 2003, Mr. Major founded MTSG, a strategic consulting, governance and investment company. From 2000 to 2003, he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Novatel Wireless. Before then, he served as President and CEO of Wireless Knowledge. From 1997 to 1998, he served as Executive Vice President of QUALCOMM and President of its Wireless Infrastructure Division. Prior to joining QUALCOMM, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Motorola, Inc., and Senior Vice President and General Manager for Motorola's Worldwide Systems Group. Mr. Major holds a B.S. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Rochester, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois, an M.B.A. from Northwestern University and a J.D. from Loyola University.

With nearly 20 years of experience in the wireless and high-tech sectors, Daniel Obodovski’s passion is helping companies go to market with connected devices and machine-to-machine (M2M) technologies. He has worked with some of the top people in the industry to realize the vision of the Internet of Things. Most recently, Daniel was Director of Business Development at Qualcomm, where he led the commercial launch of multiple M2M products and businesses. Prior to that, Daniel was Director of Strategic Marketing and Business Development at Motorola Germany. In 2011 Daniel co-founded, and currently co-chairs, M2M SIG at CommNexus San Diego. Daniel holds an MBA degree from the University of South Carolina and Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, as well as a Master’s degree from the Moscow State Lomonosov University.

Fred Silny has served as Chief Financial Officer for public and private corporations since 1989. Most recently, he was Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President at Charlotte Russe Holding, Inc. Before then, he was the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Guess?, Inc., one of the world's leading collections of contemporary apparel and accessories for men, women, and children. From 1999 to 2001, he was the Chief Financial Officer and Secretary of CarsDirect.com, Inc., an online automobile buying service, and from 1989 to 1999, he served as the Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Finance, and Treasurer at IHOP Corp., the parent company of the International House of Pancakes restaurant chain. Before that, he held various leadership positions with Carnation Company (Nestle S.A.), including Division Manager of Carnation Dairies Division. He began his career as a Senior Accountant with Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP. Mr. Silny holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and an M.A. degree in Statistics from the University of California at Berkeley.

Debbie Matzek

Debbie Matzek has supported leading U.S. defense companies in their business development, strategic planning, and program management efforts since the 1980s. Debbie has held many aerospace leadership roles, including: General Dynamics Space Systems Division, where she supported Atlas II Launch Vehicle missions for the United States Air Force and development of the first Automated Requirements Verification Program; the Titan/Centaur program, where she served as mission verification lead; and CTA, Incorporated, where she managed their NAWC, China Lake program. Since then, as head of DM Defense Consulting, she has supported many large and small businesses and DoD customers including the US Navy, US Air Force and NSA. During her tenure as AFCEA San Diego President, Debbie led efforts to make AFCEA a leading defense organization in the region, while supporting college scholarships to foster math and science careers. Debbie holds a B.A. Degree in Telecommunications and Public Relations from San Diego State University, (Magna Cum Laude).

Doug Hegebarth is an accomplished executive with 30 years management experience in both large private companies and small and startup Defense related organizations. Doug led a number of management acquisition efforts in Defense and commercial environments. Most recently, Doug was President and CEO of Anzus, Inc. a San Diego based Defense software firm. He successfully turned the company around and sold it to Rockwell Collins, a large Defense communications and electronics company, gaining shareholders over 110 percent valuation in the eleven months he served as CEO. Prior to Anzus, Doug served in several executive roles with various organizations, including CEO, CTO, COO, Division Manager and Business Development Director. These positions included building and operating a $100M Division of a Defense company, raising venture capital for various startups, and participating in a successful IPO. Doug holds a BBA from National University with emphasis on Computer Science and a certificate in Systems Engineering from the University of California, San Diego.

Tyler Tatum served as Brainlike's Chief Executive Officer until November, 2011, during a period when Brainlike generated substantial revenue and converted basic technology to valuable products. His career began as a programmer working with Bob Jannarone at Netuitive (then known as Rapid Clip Neural Systems) in 1998, with the successful creation of product code for adaptive monitoring and forecasting. He quickly became Netuitive's product manager, guiding product shifts from electricity demand forecasting to application performance monitoring. After leaving Netuitive in 2001, Tyler ran Project Planet, a leading hotel environmental services company. Starting as Brainlike CEO in 2005, Tyler presided over successful efforts to refine Brainlike intellectual property, perform valuable DoD R&D, and secure $4m in defense funding. While overseeing Brainlike technology and business development during his tenure, Tyler gained many valuable insights that continue to inspire Brainlike opportunities and strategy. Tyler holds a B.S. in computer science from Cornell University.

Prior to founding VueLogic Mr. Garmon enjoyed a 20 year career with Equifax Inc., most recently serving as Chief Information Officer, where he improved quality and performance by using global outsourcing for data centers, application development and application maintenance. Before that, he successfully transformed Equifax Secure, the Consumer Identity and Digital Certificate division of Equifax, by aligning the business strategy with customer's requirements.
